During this past summer, the media specialists from each of our campuses have been collaborating on how to turn their dream project into reality. Well, thanks to a whole host of people, they had the opportunity to see the first step of the project come to fruition. The Little Free Library (LFL) at Paris Elementary was dedicated and opened in a ceremony this morning (October 8, 2019) as part of an ongoing district-wide project. This project is made possible from a community grant they recently received through Walmart.
The Little Free Library belongs to everyone! Anyone may use it - students, teachers, parents, grandparents, neighbors, visitors. The books are always free to take and share. We also welcome any donations. The LFL is open all the time, even when the school is closed and is located in front of the PES campus.
The LFL at PES was constructed by Mr. Gary Binz, PES Maintenance, painted by Mrs. Ellen Phillips, PES Media Specialist/Librarian and installed by Richard Zimmer, Maintenance Director. Students had the opportunity to paint stepping stones in Art class with Ms. Darlene Hudson, which were placed on the path leading up to the LFL.
The district media specialists are working on installing a LFL at Wood Street Park Pavilion and at the East end of the Old Fairgrounds building North of the Veterans City Park very soon. Watch for more details about these LFLs in the near future.
