This week Paris Middle School 8th grade students were introduced to various paintings and sculptures online during their time in the library with Mrs. Anne Canada. They were given the opportunity to view and analyze the different perspectives of the pieces. They discussed what they observed in the art relating to placement of characters, social classes and what the artist was trying to portray. Some of those pieces included Cost of Removal, War News from Mexico and The Power of Music.
Mrs. Canada is a member of the 2018-19 Arkansas Declaration of Learning team of teachers who were recently trained on how to utilize art as tools in education to further complex thinking strategies, support empathetic response to alternative viewpoints, and encourage students to become civically engaged in their school, local, state, and world communities.
